Our practice at Southland Valuation, Inc. is primarily related to commercial and industrial properties. We appraise and review a wide variety of property types. Southland Valuation’s geographic area includes most of Southern California, including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Kern, San Luis Obispo, and San Diego Counties. Our clients include accountants, lawyers, insurance companies, and regional banks.

MAI Designation

Our managing partner, Thomas H. Lim (resume attached), is among the limited number of real estate appraisers holding the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institue. The Appraisal Institute is the profession’s most prestigious national association. The Institute’s MAI designation is awarded to professionals who have completed a rigorous education, peer review and passed testing requirements relating to the valuation of all classes of commercial real estate.

Designated appraisers are required to have extensive training with 4,500 hours of specialized experience which exceed federally mandated state certification, licensing, and registration standards. In real estate appraising, there is little variance in fees and timing. However, the range in quality and professionalism can be vast. As a designated member of the Appraisal Institute, I have a commitment to advanced education, defined ethical requirements and higher expectations for the appraisal profession as a whole.
